The battery is the most expensive part of an e-bike, and a few simple habits can noticeably extend its life.
Charge it the smart way
Use only the charger supplied with your bike or one approved by the manufacturer. Charge at room temperature and unplug once the battery is full. There is no need to drain it completely before recharging.
Everyday charging
Topping up between rides is fine. Modern lithium-ion batteries do not suffer from a memory effect.
Store it correctly
For long breaks, such as winter, store the battery indoors in a dry place at a moderate temperature. Leave it partly charged rather than full or empty, and check it every few weeks.
Protect it from heat and cold
Avoid leaving the battery in a hot car or in direct sun. In freezing weather, bring it inside before charging, because charging a very cold battery can harm it.
Keep contacts clean and dry
Wipe the contacts with a dry cloth. Do not spray a pressure washer at the battery or motor area, and remove the battery when cleaning the bike.
Ride efficiently
Use a lower assist level on flat ground, keep tyre pressure correct and shift gears early on climbs. This reduces strain on the battery and extends your range.
When to ask for help
If range drops suddenly, the battery gets unusually warm or the casing is damaged, stop using it and contact a professional. Questions? Contact our team.
